Description

Victorian era solid mahogany small writing chest that is shaped as a book. It comes with its original working lock and key. There are two Tunbridge Ware styled bands running across the lid - this is made up of tiny little veneers of wood. The wood used to create this pattern would have been Green Oak, Walnut, Satinwood, and Mahogany. Internally there are two leather lined compartments to the front, which are both in a clean condition. There is a pen tray to the back with a leather covered lid and a tiny turned bone handle and a small compartment for an ink pot. Within the pen tray there is a fine treen letter opener which came with this writing chest.
